Angela's wellbeing secret
I bumped into old colleague and friend Angela. Looking as stylish as ever (she's a fashion journalist) she shared her long-time wellbeing secret.
"Aqua classes have got me through all sorts of trials and tribulations. I’ve been going once a week for about 16 years. Basically it’s an exercise class in the water. It’s quite vigorous – you do all the sorts of things you couldn’t otherwise do unless you had the buoyancy of the water.
I really love swimming, it’s a great way of clearing your head. But I don’t want to race up and down a pool, I hate all that. And I don’t like anything that involves competition, I have quite enough of that in my work. But once you’ve had a swim, you’re ready to tackle the day and aqua class definitely gives you that same energy.
It does look at bit ludicrous, but it really is a super thing
It does look a bit ludicrous and I often think young kids when they see us must think - oh those poor old ladies doing their aqua class, but honestly it really is a super thing.
I had a problem with my shoulder a while ago when I had an accident and I was bereft because I couldn’t go for four months. If I don’t do my aqua on a Saturday I really notice it. I love it."
Like Angela, I love being in the pool, but unlike her I actually enjoy swimming up and down. I find it quite meditative.
